A day to remember...
Standing up with a large yawn, I got up from my kitchen table. Pondering the day I had just experienced, one with obnoxious, hormonal teenagers and classes that seemed to last as long as a decade, caused me a slight headache and aching muscles, longing for a nap. Trudging up to my bedroom, my eyes wandered over to my dad, who was emersed in his iPhone 4. "Hey, dad, where's mom?" I asked. "Oh, uh, she's at the hospital with grandma. I thought mom told you... Grandpa fell while they were out. The ambulance had to come get him." My color was instantly washed from my face. I stood, my mouth gaping open, unaware of where I was, but the constant beep of the oven timer announcing that food was ready, caused me to snap back into reality. "What..." I trailed off. I had lost the ability to form words... There was no words I could say that would make any of it better, anyways. My grandpa was diagnosed with cancer in 2003, so the shock of going go the hospital wasn't too "shocking" for lack of a better word. Still, the significance of it hit me hard. My mom came home late that night, and my grandma came home with her. The next few days were followed with knotted stomachs amd wrinkled brows, just hoping that he would be alright. The day came. My grandpa returned home on October 13, 2011. A day that was highly anticipated.
